As a result of analysing the meetings that are held in our school at the beginning of our project, the teachers’ observations, certificates got by the students and academic success of students, our needs are come in sight.
In our school, it has been seen that there are some problems like nonattendance problem, the level of the academic success isn’t as it is ought to be, early dropping out, lack of support for both boys and girls because of their inhabiting in rural areas.
The aims of our project are: to be able to make students adapted to school, to increase the attendance of students’ parents to school management; thanks to these reaching to disadvantageous areas for preventing dropping out, to ensure gender equality are provided. So that we can strengthen weaknesses of our school.
Besides, we aimed to reach some results like that the abundance of the free time activities makes students have more positive attitudes to school, have a good time in school, develop the teacher student interaction, improve the academic success.
We are 7 participants. The profile of our participants: young, willing, in early years in his/her job and eager to do international studies.
This team is formed by 2 Maths, 2 ELT and a Science teachers.
The basis of the activities in our project is constructed by enriching the free time activities, student-teacher interaction and time management in boarding schools. Our project is going to be as job shadowing at the boarding schools determined by our course provider.
Firstly we aimed to raise awareness among the boarding school students about improving free time activities and increasing knowledge and skills.
Then the abilities they have earned will be transferred to other staffs in our school.
Besides, a board that presents our project will be prepared in our school. At this board the activities that enrich free time will take place.
Our staff who will attend this course will give a hand to staffs in our school and to staffs the other schools in this area to ensure compliance on international syllabus.
A web site will be prepared to obtain information without membership and also a free e-brochure will be prepared on this web site.
We also think that it will increase the success to prevent early dropping out, preventing gender discrimination, improvement of the student success, developing a positive attitude towards school for parents, achieving the goals that are situated in vision and mission of our school, having better time at the school and develop a positive attitude towards school for students and decreasing nonattendance to school.
Our school staff will develop enthusiasm and consciousness among the boarder students to stay more willingly in the period of time they will be in school.
Moreover, knowledge and skills about enriching free time activities will be transferred to other three boarding schools in Hatay.
Our project includes 10 days schooling, 2 days cultural weekend tour.
It is aimed to improve time management skill, student-teacher interaction and teachers’ knowledge and skills by observing the free time activities in determined boarding schools and hostels.
