The Fachakademie für Sozialpädagogik provides professional training for childcare assistants and childcare workers. More than five years ago the Fachakademie started projects both for teachers and students with European partners. 10 projects have been completed successfully since then. In the meantime creating an awareness for Europe has become a salient objective of the Fachakademie's overall concept. The current project is going to impart knowledge about the Spanish system of pre-school education as well as the practice of pre-school teacher training. Both is vital for the teachers of the Fachakademie as they have to present their students a variety of methodological concepts. Important features of the project are visits to pre-schools and nurseries as well as universities in Barcelona, talks with experts in the field and lectures about Spanish and Catalan pre-school education and teacher training. Thus the participants will get deep insight into all relevant aspects of pre-school education in Spain including new concepts and methodologies which so far are only little known in Germany. This will help them teaching these skills to their students in Germany. Furthermore the cooperation between the Fachakademie and BCN Formació Professional will be intensified by the project.
