In the light of the importance of tourism in the eligible Programme area - both in Italy and in Slovenia - the “Front Office Operator for Tourist Offices” project intends to develop this specific sector as well as new strategies, through the adoption of competent and qualified human resources in the cross-border labour market . Considering the good prospects connected to the markedly tourist vocation of the crossborder area - both along the coast and in the interior-mountain area - the need has emerged for the management of the changes afoot and for greater competitiveness of the tourist offer: from the traditional holiday to the “all inclusive” package, study-holidays, organised tours, the use of modern information technologies, etc. In this sense the project focuses on the following tourist sectors: naturalistic, adventure, educational and cultural. The front office operator thus trained can work for travel agencies, tour operators, large tourist companies and service providers. His/her skills are mainly commercial and include all the phases of the preparation of a tourist package: he/she must be able to analyse in depth and understand the needs of the client, to plan the service requested and take care of the necessary paperwork, in order to provide a “turnkey” product.
