The purpose of our proposal is to develop a toolkit for the wider youth sector which will support the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities in EVS projects. This toolkit will be developed based on the expressed need arising through two ASO projects carried out on behalf of the Irish NA & as a result of our successful partnership in the last two years where we supported the Irish National Agency to increase the number of young people going on short term EVS by almost 400%. Our proposal will support the implementation of the European Youth Strategy, Brighter Futures Better Outcomes and The Children First Act by putting disadvantaged young people as central to our work. One of the priorities for the Irish National agency in 2015 is to support young peoples transition from NEET TO EET by involving them in quality EVS projects. As part of their TCA plan with Poland, Netherlands, Estonia and UK Leargas will be involved in a number of transnational events in this context. These NA'S identified that EVS is not used enough to support YPWFO. Organizations who work with YPWFO do not know how to use EVS as a tool to support employability. Our proposal has two key objectives, they are as follows:1.To develop an Online tool kit for youth work practitioners based on our past and present experiences of working with young people with fewer opportunities. This tool kit will be targeted at practitioners who wish to support the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities in EVS projects. It will be an A-Z of how to support young people with fewer opportunities in EVS. It will include everything from the benefits of EVS, the challenges, dealing with the challenges, turning the challenges into learning, per-departure training, one to one support, effective mentoring for young people with fewer opportunities, the importance of working in partnership, AXA insurance, integrating the volunteer into the community, putting the emphasis on learning in EVS projects and youth pass and other key areas.Proposal RationaleThe rationale for the toolkit is to support the professionalization of youth workers, building their confidence and competences for working with this target group and setting quality standards and ethical and professional codes when working with young people with fewer opportunities.2.To foster the inclusion and employability of young people with fewer opportunities, in particular young people who are considered to be in the NEETS category- not in education, employment or training by supporting the wider youth sector include to "not be afraid" to include them in EVS. This project builds on our "NEXT STEP" project which will support 20 more young people to go on short and long term EVS in 2015.These EVS placements will support us to pilot some of our toolkit templates and improve them for the final toolkit.Follwoign our initial consultations we have agreed some templates to be developed for the toolkit as follows:The toolkit will be designed based on the use of non formal methods which will support the wider youth sector to include their young people in EVS projects. All templates will be developed based on our "real experience" of working with young people with fewer opportunities and the expressed need of youth sector through 2 former ASO projects (Advice and Support). Some of the templates will include the following:IntroductionWorking with young people with fewer opportunities to support inclusion through short term EVS.This will be one page opening which will demonstrate the benefits of working with young people with fewer opportunities for both young people and organization. It is important to us that when people open this toolkit they want to continue reading it. We want them to know that Inclusion is not an Illusion. Some possible topics in the toolkit:NEETS - How EVS support the employability of young people with fewer opportunities(case study-linked to the ev splacements)Why are the supports needed for young people with fewer opportunities different ? doesn't this create a new label ?What are the challenges facing YPFWO in EVS ?What are the challenges for organizations supporting YPWFO going on EVS.Turning the challenges into opportunities. What are the benefits of EVS to your organization in supporting the implementation of National and European policy objectives ?How can EVS sport the employability of young people for later life ? How can i support my young people to get involved in EVS ?How do i identify supports needed for my young people in EVS ?How can i find a partner who will support the needs of my young people ?
