The objective of the project 'Daughters of Liberation' is to encourage young women to learn more about contemporary history from a gender perspective and to discuss the importance of women's emancipation historically, today and in future. The importance of equality and tolerans is reflected in network meetings. The contrast between living in a totalitarian versus a democratic society is highlighted in dialogues with East European youths who recall the time before and after liberation from the Soviet occupation. Communist regimes' crimes against humanity and an analysis of Swedish youths' comprehension of the world around them and their attitudes towards freedom and democracy in the 'new' Europe are discussed in conjunction with the school information.
