Four Corners: Research & Development
Start date: May 2, 2011,

Four Corners of Europe is a long term collaboration between cultural initiators and organizations throughout the Greater Europe. We initiate this collaboration with a 17 month project focusing on research, observation, analysis, networking and development of foundational ideas for future co-productions and touring. Europe is framed by four seas: The Baltic, The North, The Black, The Mediterranean. Around each sea, unique cultural traditions have developed over centuries. And - at the same time - unique contemporary expressions of art and culture are emerging, in an ongoing dialogue with EU cultural workers and in a globalized context.MAIN PROJECT CRITERIA Cross cultural experience.Interdisciplinary approach.Unconventional spaces and "site related" works.Capacity to communicate beyond language.Connection to other sectors of society (transversality).OBJECTIVES- to establish new partnerships, extending the project for future long-term project co-production and touring- to observe, analyze transform (and be transformed by) neighboring non-EU countries - to facilitate contact between project artists and local organizations in target regionsACTIVITIES: Four Xpeditions/Four Corners of Europe1.
