Fostering Open and Creative Urban Sustainability
Start date: Mar 1, 2013,
It’s time to think “sustainable”! That’s why the youth exchange "F.O.C.U.S: Globe!" aims to brings together 34 young people coming from 6 different countries (Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Wales - UK and Latvia) and give them the opportunity to discuss and report about sustainable urban ecosystems issues. Through non formal learning methods, 27 participants and 7 group leaders will try to propose different “every day actions” how to make Skopje much more livable, as unfortunately one city with a high percentage of pollution. Together with Mladiinfo team, as the hosting organization, participants and group leaders will organise a “Clean up Day” along the river Vardar who passes through Skopje dividing the city into a modern and old town. Through the ecological action, all the participants will have the opportunity to face the real situation about the pollution in Skopje and to work together in the identification of some “suggestions” how citizenship and local municipalities can help with their every day actions in making the ecological situation better in urban environments. In this way Mladiinfo FEJS – MK will promote young people’s active citizenship and foster mutual understanding between young people coming from different countries. During the exchange they will learn how to report about the problem of global environmental challenges using different media channels. To face the problem better, during the workshops they will also work on the creation of the logo and the slogan of the exchange that will be printed on reusable cotton bags which Mladiinfo’s EVS volunteers will spread at the end of the exchange in high schools and universities with the aim to stimulate young generations to think about the concept of urban sustainability and in that way raise their awareness on environmental issues.
