Fostering capacity for tourism development in Latgale-Utena-Vitebsk cross border region (BELLA DVINA - 2)

The common problem of the cross-border territory is the lack of joint public tourism service system which can result in low economic performance, growing unemployment and inefficient use of local resources. The cooperation in the project between Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus will develop and promote joint tourism traditions, improve public tourism infrastructure and diversify tourism offers to reach better results in attracting tourists and visitors. The partners aim to promote tourism development in cross-border region of Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus through fostering tourism export and production, promoting cooperation among tourism sector specialists. Expected Results: The project will develop and promote joint tourism traditions of the cross-border region by organising majors tourism events and participating in them; improve public infrastructure for joint tourism activities by reconstructing tourism information centres and public recreation object; enhance capacities of tourism sector specialists by organising training modules and workshops; increase tourist attractiveness and competitiveness of the region through elaborating new cross-border tourism products and organising promotion tours.
