60 Forestry vocational students learn in state forest in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Since more than 5 years yearly 12 students go to an internship in Hungary and Finland in partner schools. They learn there as part of their German vocational education. The project is the continuation of the very good results and experiences in these fields.
Project aims were the development of students in private, sociocultural and professional level, but also the development of organizations in regional and international level.
National and regional networks in forestry developed. They have got a deeper international direction and the quality was growing up with new tasks. The cooperation has consolidated and got a new level. New structures for partnerships were developing. Such active and good structured international networks and cooperation are very important to get some synergy effects in intercultural dialogue even in regions with low population density, such Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Hungary and Northerncarelia.
Vocational students of state forest Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, who learn in dual system the profession of forester, went in 6 Flows to an internship to Hungary and Finland each for 32 days. They travelled in small groups with 4 persons. It was a two years project.
During the working the have got the following experiences and knowledge: about forestry companies, their structure, solving problems for instance with handling public expectations and economic situation, implementation of environmental and nature protection under consideration of sustainable forestry. They worked in forests, had visits, discussions with experts, and worked on an own project.
In the internship in Finland they got methodological competences in using machines in forestry. So they learned the scheduling of machine working under consideration of ecologic and environmental protection. They worked in forests and made working streets; they felled trees, lodged trees with harvesters and forwarders. They worked in services and maintenance on machines.
The basis of partnership and the frame of learning abroad was the memorandum of understanding between the German, Hungarian and Finn partner, which was signed before starting the project.
In long term the results of project are spread in the region with low population in Hungary, Finland and in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The young people will be able to be active, to take the initiative for shape their life. They will get international professional and methodical competences, so they will have better chances on the labour market. The young people will get higher qualified work in their region.
