FORMET: Methodology for the anticipation of training needs for workers aged over 45 within the metal sector

FORMET will design a methodological training tool able to detect, respond to and thus anticipate potential training needs in the metal sector. The tool aims to support professionals in the provision of continuous training, contributing to the ongoing skills development of the workforce.Activities will mainly comprise the anticipation of training needs (particularly as regards workers aged over 45 years) and the creation of a tool for training and human resources specialists working with this target group. Overall, improving the ability of the workforce to respond to technological and organisational change and further improving competitiveness amongst individual organisations.Following an initial analysis of the target group, which will both identify existing levels of training within the target group and review current training responses and availability, the project will focus upon the design and introduction of a methodological tool, for use by those responsible for assuring effective training of the workforce, to meet sectoral and technological change. The tool will support these professionals in planning appropriate and continuous training for specific segments of the workforce (determination of training objectives, content design, supervision and support, production of appropriate materials) with the end result being presented both on CD-Rom and via a series of theoretical support manuals.Dissemination is planned at three levels: through a dedicated website; through direct mailing of the end project report ; through the hosting of an end project conference whereupon representatives of the actual target group plus respective professionals will be invited for the end project results to be fully presented.
