PROJECT
FINISHED
The Institution Saint Joseph Carnoles is a primary school that has been developing an « Opening to the world and to different cultures » project since 2012. Within the framework of this project, teachers are strongly encouraged to enrol for continuing education cessions, especially abroad. Two teachers have already benefited from a training cession in the United Kingdom within the framework of a Comenius program, which gave a good impulsion to the European dimension of our school. Two other teachers are now applying to a language and didactics training cession in Ireland. They are both key resource persons on whom the whole team relies to implement the various actions of the ‘Opening to the world” project. They both have an excellent command of the Italian language but they need to improve their English. They are also keen to discover new teaching methods as well as the Irish culture of which they know but little. The training cession to which they are applying, the program of which is attached to this application, should enable them to meet these aims. Furthermore, this project is linked to other projects within the framework of our school project “Opening to the world and to different cultures”, especially, this year, to several eTwinning projects one of which, in collaboration with a Fin school, will include pupils mobility. These two teacher’s training cession is part of a team project. A school meeting has been organised to present the project to the other teachers, and several of them have listed resources that they would like their colleagues to bring back. The CM1 and CM2 forms will work on Irish culture. Finally, our traditional “English speaking countries culture day” will be centred on Irish culture next year. We are expecting this project to trigger an improvement of both teachers’ language, didactic and cultural skills; an enrichment of our school’s cultural projects; an increased team motivation and a development of our school European dimension. We are also hoping that other teachers will be induced to apply for training cessions abroad.
