CREE (Collectif Recherche et Expression) is a youth organisation. It is specialized for deaf and hard-hearing children and young adult people (aged 3-30). Two CREE's workers went to France. The association CRESAM, situated in Saint-Benoit (near Poitiers - France), is specialized for deafblind persons and gives various trainings about how to guide and communicate with deafblind people. One of these trainings is open to deaf people and is given in the sign language. The participants are put in touch with deafblind people, receive theoretical elements, learn about the tactile sign language and other modalities of communication. One of the 2 a.m. workers is suffering from the Usher syndrome and has already lost a big part of his vision. The team needs to have tools to maintain this worker in service, to get the basics for developing an effective communication with him and to allow him so to participate actively to (for instance) the preparation/evaluation of working groups, just as any other colleague. It is also necessary to secure the environment where he has to act as youth activities leader, his field of vision being quite reduced. It's also about making the deaf people aware of this particular aspect of the deafness by showing empathy towards this person, who is much appreciated by people taking part to our activities. A committee of follow up 'Usher' was set up in order to gather information, to support our worker, to continue awareness-raising actions and to build a module of training in the long run.
