Global warming and climate change that affects and concerns worldwide has generated the arising of youth groups motivated by environmental preservation. In this context is presented this youth exchange which will be held in the city of Lleida (Spain) during 12 days, from the 6th to the17th of July 2015 between 10 young people from Prague (Republic Txeca), 12 young people from Tortona (Italy) and 15 young people from Lleida all aged from 16th to 25th years old.
The organizations which are taking part in this project are:
1. Dům dětí a mládeže hlavního města Prahy, DDM hl. M. Prahy, DDM HMP (Praga – Republica Txeca)
2. Comune de Tortona (Tortona – Italia)
3. Regidoria de Joventut de l’Ajuntament de Lleida (Lleida – Spain)
The activities to be undertaken will be: the protection of the environment, sustainability activities, the ponder, discussion and diffusion of environmental values which will be held in the Mitjana Natural Park in Lleida and in other green areas of the city. Activities that will encourage the interrelationship between the youth people, as for example, the practice of sport, healthy leisure time, cultural visits, trips out of town etc. will be taken complementarily in order to disclose mores and traditions of the participating countries.
The methodology that is used is based on the youth participation and the youth empowerment from the beginning, also on the planning, development of the activities, and on the evaluation and diffusion. The work of the project is being developed transversely between the three participating entities and the communication and agreements are fluent.
Impact:
As to the young participants: On the one hand a greater awareness of issues related to the environment, climate change, recycling, waste management. Youth environmentally conscious and able to transmit these values to their alike. They will be competent in communicate in other different languages to mother tongue, more open to cultural differences and eager to interact with people from other countries. Friendship that can be maintained through social networks or in future meetings will be also created. On the other hand it is highly appreciated in a curriculum vitae the mobility and participation in such projects which can help to promote the employability of the young participants.
As to the organizers, this experience will mean higher skills in managing international projects. Educational methodologies and tools used by the partners that can be applied to future projects will be learnt as well.
Locally, the image of youth will improve to the rest of other citizens at the same time that the population is sensitized with open planned interventions of the importance of protecting the environment.
Long-term lived and shared experiences leave their mark on young people. These experiences favour their critical sense of reality and make them to acquire values of tolerance, solidarity, etc .. All this favours a positive effect on the itinerary of life of these young people. On the other hand, the organizing entities are enriched when meeting new methodologies and educational tools that can be implemented in future projects.
