Following the water way
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Feb 28, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

In line with the recommendations from the COP 21, the priorities of the Europe 2020 Strategy and the objectives of the Grenelle Environment Forum, the youth mobility project "Following the water way" promotes informal education and training young French, Spanish and Italian to current water issues in a context of climate change. The three partners behind the project, working in remote or sensitive geographical areas (mountains, countryside and island), spotted on their common intervention fields a transversal need to understanding of climate change through youth, who demand for reliable, simple and practical information to understand what it is. Based on this need that has become the idea of the project, three project partners have mobilized to build together a project, confident that further discussions and objectives set at national and global level between states. It is essential to engage the fight against climate change now, and concretely on people living territories to make more concrete and tangible issues for landba citizen. A number of young beneficiaries or members of the project's partner organizations have joined forces to provide their views to their centers of interest with regard to learning methods. Thus, 43 participants will take part of the project and it will take the form of exchanges of time of knowledge inputs, exchange with local professionals and actors, implemented and concrete experiments, as well as corresponding training. This cross-border trip is also an opportunity for concrete and recreational activities as part of an experimental approach to see the topic of water and climate change through participatory time. The activities will be realized in Lescun, because of its geographic location (town in the heart of the mountains) and Pau (city of the Pyrenean foothills) and finally on the Basque coast (Atlantic coast). We wish to go beyond the French territory and share these issues with other European territories in order to better awareness and empower young people to enable them to act knowingly. In conclusion, this project aims to exchange awareness to younger generations the importance of preserving a vital resource for mankind, water, common good essential to life and well-being on Earth. It thus contributes to a better appropriation of water-related issues and wetlands locally by locals, issue that will only increase in the current context of climate change.
