FOKUS ON SKILLS
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project FOSS (Focus on Skills) aims on trainees in the sales, office and IT-business. The main goals of the program is to build up intercultural skills and knowledge, improve language skills for the business, recognize own skills and competencies in business and improving customers support skills for dealing with customers at home and from other countries. The idea behind it is to bring 95 students for learning and work placements abroad for five weeks. The recognition of the skills and building up competencies will be the main goal during the stay, based on the methods of the lifelong learning skills. There will be an assessment of the skills before the departure and all skills will be monitored during the stay. The tools are a skill pass document, a skill matrix for the trainees. There will be meetings with the students to talk about the learning outcomes and a reflection of the skills learned during the stay. Each student will follow up the skills he needs to improve his own employability. There will be a learning guide to help them to become more professional. We also ask the companies to fill in a questionnaire to judge on the student skill improvements. At the end everyone will get a certification monitoring his skill level and his learning outcomes during the stay. It will be used to help to improve their CVs for the European labor market. Everyone will get a closer look on their own potential and how to improve it in later work life. The “black box” of the stay abroad for the companies will be no more because companies are able to see the improvements of their employers during the stay. So the companies are more willing to send their trainees abroad during the dual studies. The Skill improvement will be transparent for everyone through the use of the Skill Pass. The learning outcomes monitored during the stay and afterwards will be an indicator for the quality of the project.
