Flipped Learning in the Future Classroom
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project will aim to develop key skills for staff and teachers at Keilir and VUCsyd by sharing best practices and concrete examples of the use of innovative learning methods in hands-on workshops. The project will offer 12 key staff and teachers from Keilir with the oportunity to visit a progressive and creative educational establishment on the forefront in innovation and design of the learning space. Keilir - who is a front runner in incorporating flipped learning methods in its educational offers - is based in a traditional school building built to accommodate the classical teaching approaches which centres around the teacher. The project will look at how traditional schools can put the learner in the centre, with regards to learning material, learning methods and the physical learning space. Focus will be on how to successfully utilise the new functionality of the traditional classroom, how the learning space is created and depict best practice and examples for other schools seeking to change their learning environment and how to use the facilities successfully when involved with flipped learning. The products will include the establishment of a peer network, hands-on workshops including staff and teachers from the partner institutions and practical guidelines on the results that will be shared with teachers, staff and school administrators in the partner countries. The project will seek to enhance and broaden the horizon of our staff and teachers. To encourage them to be even bolder and more innovative in their teaching methods in order to meet the demands of the individual learner of the future. To see possibilities in combining the latest ICT with proven flipped learning methods and how the design of the physical learning space can help to improve the culture and success of the education. To - in the end - improve the learning experience for our students.
