Fit for EuropeThis two years' project is supposed to get our school fit for Europe. On the one hand, collaboration in European projects shall be intensified and, on the other hand, training for multilingualism shall be encouraged by bilingual teaching in natural and social science subjects. The competences of a critical number of teachers of natural and social sciences to teach their subjects in English shall be activated or improved. On the basis of the predecessor project „Fit for Europe“ we want to intensify the already acquired competences and enlarge the basis among the teaching staff, too, in order to achieve a lasting effect. Altogether we want to send five teachers to language courses in English speaking countries so that they can widen their linguistic competences which they will then be able to harness in bilingual teaching. At the same time they shall make contacts in order to find new partners for future projects. Their improved knowledge in English and the newly developed contacts shall then contribute to support and coordinate further European school projects at Gymnasium Wertingen. We hope that the experiences made will then contribute to shape our lessons significantly and will motivate both teachers and students even more, and that we will thus add to more understanding and tolerance on our way to Europe.
