Feed the body, heal the soul
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The main objective of this youth exchange is to introduce, explore and promote a healthy way of living to younger generation. We felt there was a need for this kind of project based on recent reports and research figures highlighting the marked increase in eating disorders, obesity, related mental and physical wellbeing as well as teen suicide and self harm and the feedback from young people we worked with in both disadvantaged and non disadvantaged communities and schools. Backing up the negative statistics we observed that a lot of young people today spend too much time indoors and are not very active in their everyday life, not appreciative life or them selves, feel disempowered or apathetic, how they look, so we decided to create an opportunity for them to learn about different methods and possibilities to practise a more health oriented life and to give tolls and supports for building more healthy and positive awareness and lifestyles. The program of the youth exchange was designed in order to address these issues and will be divided by topic and theme, corresponding to the objectives of the project. Our intention is for the participants to realize that the benefits of a healthy lifestyle are numerous and living it is not as commonly perceived (expensive and difficult to maintain). Being healthy doesn’t only mean being physically fit, a positive body image and attitude is also very vital to one’s health, and we would like to help the participants to realize that. This exchange was envisioned as a guideline in order to help and motivate the participants to make a change in their everyday life. Using the foundation we have provided, our hope is that they will build on it and continue implementing and sharing the knowledge gained for their own benefits and the benefits of others.
