Livsbanen is a small non-for-profit organisation that works with exposed and vulnerable youth in socially poor areas. Through this project we aim to educate and enlighten a few of our young members, who have already shown willingnes and attitude towards a change in their lives. They have accomplished our internal role model education and they are gradually taking on responsibilites in the neighborhood in terms of minor jobs and particpation in democratic forums. They have no means from their families to go away on a meaningful study trip. Through Livsbanen they get this opportunity and we have found a French organisation, S3, to partner with that will enhance our knowledge about event management and volunteering. On September 1, World Championship in Street Games will take place in Paris, and we are invited to join as volunteers for the day. That will be the main event on our trip, as well as meeting with S3 (France Freestyle Ball). We will before, under as well as after the trip take the opportunity to coach and mentor the young people - teach them about democracy and how EU works, let them document the trip on a daily Facebook update, through presentations to their schools and families, and let them try to manage the next event to be hold in our own local area. That way they will learn to transfer and bring into use their acquired knowledge, skills and successes! If we are granted funds for this trip it will make a world of difference to the future life of these young men. We are working on a return visit from the French group, but could not finish it in due time for this application. We hope to succeed with that as well as it will be a valuable way of securing the experiences and new friendships.
