PROJECT
FINISHED
Participation in EU grant program has increased over the last decade across Turkey when the developments in the EU membership process is taken into consideration. In the meantime, needs of organizations are differantiated and expectations of organizations and institution employees have also increased. To be met expectations, prepared quality projects and implemented, Project Units within provincial directorates carries out the necessary work; however, training and support needed by districts as well as the city center cannot be provided due to quantitative lack of staff working at the units. In the District Directorates of National Education, because of the absence of a mechanism providing the necessary support from the technical aspects for the staff who prepares projects makes our teachers who work at the districts and want to prepare projects disadvantaged in this respect.
There are 11 districts of Çankırı. Teachers assigned to our district would like to be appointed to another area when they have the first right to leave. One teacher works in Projects Unit within Çankırı Directorate of National Education, and there is no chance to provide continuous trainings for all districts. Needs of experienced and permanent staff for the project shows itself in every district and sustainability cannot be achieved due to staff circulation.
Project Team provides trainings to the teachers working both in the province and in the districts about how to write projects. There is no staff whose duty is to provide trainings in the districts and support other teachers in this area. To increase the capacity of writing and implementing projects, the largest, the most crowded and the school located in the centrum has been chosen as project center of the district. In the city center, total of three schools which prepared and implemented project before, has been selected as project center, representing elementary, secondary and high schools.
In order to strengthen our team, a representative group of 13 people has been formed consisting of people working in these schools and continuing working there at least 2 years, being willing to write and implement the projects, highly motivated, having strong communication skills, making effort for development of themselves and their students, who believes in the power of the projects and volunteer teachers who agreed to be the representatives of the Project Team. These teachers selected from 10 districts in the province of Çankırı has been the representatives of the Project Team in the district. Çankırı is spread over a wide area. The farthermost districts is 84 km away. We aim to increase the capacity of writing projects of those who cannot always have opportunity to come to the city center.
Our project aims at a more comprehensive development of teachers on writing project, a better understanding of logic of Erasmus+ to prepare more quality project in the district where the teachers have been and at the school where they work, by being more sensitive and more informed about EU projects and other grant mechanisms of teachers who work at the districts and in the city center.
Erasmus+ Program are periodically described and are provided trainings on writing projects to the teachers both in the province and in the district. Most of the staff working in our region are enthusiastic and well motivated; however, there are teachers who have never been abroad before. Our representative teachers who have never been abroad but have skills in communicating in English will participate in this course which provides training on how to write projects. In addition to the trainings given within our directorate, it is considered that attending this course which is about the methodology of preparing and implementing projects and non-formal education methods is an important step to create a solid foundation for them to offer more quality outcomes in this area. Following this, by contacting the course providers in Barcelona, Spain, the course titled "The Methodology of Preparing and Implementing Projects and Non-formal Education Methods" was pre-registered. This course will develop the capacity to prepare project participant teachers.
Following the completion of the course, participants will be more conscious and sensitive to EU projects and other grant mechanisms, and they will be able to prepare more quality projects in their region and at their schools and to provide more quality information to those who would like to prepare project. Indeed, as well as the teachers attending the course will emphasize the importance of the project activities in terms of their schools by organizing training school-based in the area, trainings will be provided to the school staff as dissemination activity. Thus, the quality of the education environment will increase through projects, and our schools will progress in terms of internationalization and quality improvement in accordance with the European Development Plan.
