FAIR PLAY was a youth exchange that aimed to bring together 25 young people with Intellectual Disabilities accompanied each group of 2 group leaders of 5 European countries (Spain, Greece, France, Portugal and Cyprus). Since this exchange involved young people with different abilities, we believed that the presence of 2 monitors per group (five participants) and Country was primordial since the care needed by them was diverse, specific and personalized. In the case of the Spanish participants, the group was accompanied 4 monitors and we must stress that the spanish monitors had both the role of monitor/facilitator and coordinator during the project implementation We began our adventure FAIR PLAY from the 04th to the 11th of May 2015, in total eight days including travel, in Benicássim, since there were no vacancies available in the Casal d'Esplai Valencia where we planned originally to accommodate the participants. Therefore we had to house the group in the Youth Hostel Argentina in Benicassim (Castellón), whose heritage has always known to shuffle interculturalism and sport. Thanks to this, we had the opportunity to mix our goal of sociocultural integration with cultural events offered by the City. FAIR PLAY promoted the free and active participation, integration and standardization of people with different capacities in an intercultural environment through the exercise of sport and games that served of overcoming and encouragement for people with disabilities, increasing their self-esteem, this essential value for anyone to give the best thing of themselves. The thrill of the "good sportsmanship", it is well known that multiplies the perception of overcoming the difficulties and disadvantages that each perceives of themselves; but also through the use of new technologies, specifically the implementation of a video, taking to increase their skills and abilities so that participants are the average driver to aware their peers on equal mobility and break barriers to their participation in European programs. The activities enabled the exploration, experimentation and learning of new ways of inspiration, creation and encouragement: + Workshops on recreational games and sports + Workshops on creative and artistic skills (photo, video, montage) + Workshop on the creation of an awareness video + Intercultural evenings + Cultural visits In both the design and the implementation of the project, the methodology was eminently active and participatory, always seeking that young people were the leaders of the whole process and that both the content and form of the conducting activities were promoting tolerance, integration, solidarity and intercultural exchange. We wanted participants to enjoy this opportunity to experience a vast and intense non-formal learning and to take advantage on the positive sense. The following methodologies were used: + Workgroups + Group dynamics + Workshops + Use of new technologies + Art activities + Intercultural activities + Recreational sports + Dances and traditional games of each participant country The impact and benefit of this activity was based on 3 main topics: (1) To support collaborations between Occupational Centers & Partner NGOs for the development of future projects involving people with Intellectual Disability thus fulfilling the main goals of the European Commission; - to promote the dialogue, mutual tolerance, intercultural awareness and solidarity; - to break the prejudices and stereotypes for constructing a society based on understanding and mutual respect; - to contribute to the development of civil society, facilitating the integration and active participation of young people with Intellectual Disability. Towards this direction the promoters can work with programs that provide opportunities for young people for mobility and active participation in the construction of Europe 2020, i.e. improving the quality of mobility programs for young people with fewer opportunities, challenges of the new 2014-2020 program, etc. (2) To help the participant promoters to be able to posteriori prepare, conduct and evaluate mobility projects for people with Intellectual Disability and their participation in the ERASMUS+ Programme. (3) To raise the level of knowledge about the mobility opportunities for young people with Intellectual Disability.
