EYES - (European Youth - European Summit) is the 7th of its kind and will this year return to Gentofte Ungdomsskole in Denmark where it started back in 2003. EYES is a "youth exchange", sponsored by Youth in Action programme, with 32 youngsters and 12 youth leaders from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Germany and Estonia. The theme of EYES 2010 is "What is good learning?"One thing that all young people have in common is that they have been "learners" all their life. They have experienced formal and informal learning and in the process been more or less aware of the learning processes. Now it is time to ask the question: "What is good learning?" Through different informal learning activities the participants are asked to define and describe good learning. The setting at Gentofte ungdomsskole is a café that besides its function as the base for the EYES-conference encourages the participants to engage in dialogue and interaction. This and surrounding work spaces will be the places where most of the non-formal learning will take place and long lasting network will be made. During the summit the participants will have the chance to experience and evaluate different non-formal learning activities taking place in various places around town. The activities will be prepared by each project partner in advance. By experiencing different learning techniques and learning environments the participants will have a significant insight - both in praxis and in theory - to draw on in their work during the summit. The organisers would like to let the young people share their answers with the politicians and decision makers from the local school department, and to use the results and insights gained from the summit as serious statements in the future child - and youth policy in the host municipality (Gentofte, Denmark).
