Abstract
The qualification of human resources and the guarantee of certified professional skills are the current requirements of a society marked by globalization and by scientific and technological progress. Therefore, school must provide an effective response in terms of education and training.
Our EDUCATIONAL PROJECT, on page 39, defines “the transnational mobility as one of the strengths of our educational policy, particularly regarding Trainings” targeting our students in Vocational Courses and “long term local, regional or national partnerships, and more recently international ones, with multiple scientific, political, cultural, social and business institutions”.
The application for the Erasmus+ Program (which was unanimously approved by the Pedagogical Council of 14 February 2014) aims to create an opportunity window to promote the mobility of students, fostering a culture of tolerance and broadening horizons by the (re)cognition of other realities. However, the Agrupamento de Escolas Tomaz Pelayo also defends the principle that all students should have the opportunity of mobility, irrespective of their social or economic background, concerning the importance of these experiences, not only in technical and scientific learning but also in linguistic, cultural and social aspects. Thus, and given the economic situation of the Ave Valley region, most of these students would never have the opportunity to train abroad and live such an enriching experience.
The project «PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES, presented here, with the activity “VET learners in companies”, will allow students who are in the 12th year of vocational courses a unique experience of Training and simultaneously develop basic language skills for their life path.
Students who will benefit from this project will be the third year of Vocational Courses (Year 12 - Level III), the Courses of Technical Management, Technical Management of Computer Hardware, Electrical/Electronics Technician, Mechanics Technician, Care Technician and Thermalism Technician.
The project will take place in the period from September 1, 2015 to August 31, 2016 and recipients will train for five weeks between March and June (Northern Ireland, Italy, Spain and Greece).
If this experience contributes to the integration of the beneficiaries in the European labor market without borders, also meeting their training needs, we will have achieved a very important goal to be proud of.
But we want more...
With this mobility project, we want our students to achieve technical skills and scientific skills that will enhance their ability to communicate in a foreign language, develop a greater capacity to adapt themselves and learn more autonomously, assuming and consolidating their European citizenship, discovering a new culture.
We would also like to emphasize that our intermediate partners host young trainees from many other European countries, so this close contact with students of different nationalities also strengthen bounds of citizenship and belonging.
