The traditional conceppts of treatment and explanation of mental illness are assessed as very limited by the users of the mental health system. Recent research has shown, that the participation of experienced users in research, training and delivery of services has a big influence on improved outcomes.An incresing number of universities training organisations and mental health services are employing experienced people. But the lack of specific training and official recognition leds to low salleries.The project will develop a further training, which will support the people concerned in structring and reflecting their experiences, in acquiring aditional knowledge and methods to work as a trainer or as a recovery guide in mental health services. They will make a contribution to increase the effectiveness of their offers.The project brings together all important organisations in Europa, which are practically or theoretically working on the improvement of user involvement.
