The venue for the EVS project at Stavne, S.I.S.U., is at Stavne center, located in Fossegrenda in Trondheim. We hosted one volunteer this time for a 6 months project, from Poland. The main part of the voluntary activities took place at Stavne center, where we have different kinds of production units related to the project. The volunteer was also at one other unit outside of Stavne; Brygga , three days a week.
The volunteer had her project in connection with the cantina, where she amongst other things hosted a Polish week. She also continued a blog that a former volunteer had made about beeing a volunteer at Stavne and Trondheim. The blog will be kept alive by new volunteers coming to Stavne. She also had a knitting project where she knitted hats to premature babies at ST. Olavs hospital in Trondheim.
The volunteer was encouraged to create her own project and come up with new ideas for products and/or actions, as well as supporting in social work activities in team with our employees.
Stavnes aim and motivation to host volunteers is to promote international cooperation and mutual understanding among young people from different countries and cultures.
• Stavne wants to provide young people with the opportunity to gain international experience for personal and professional development
• Stavne wants to promote volunteering on a local, national and international level, as a way towards active citizenship
• We want to make young people aware of their cultural heritage, by taking actively part in sharing and learning environment
• Stavne has experience in hosting volunteers for long term EVS projects, as well as being a sending organisation for young people from Trondheim.
The EVS-project at Stavne is expected to provide both foreign and Norwegian youths the opportunity to experience common values with peers, across geographical and cultural borders. This aspect will be approached through the daily work together in one or several departments at Stavne. The volunteers will work side-by-side with both programme participants and work supervisors. This opens for an intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding.
Stavne offers physical exercise during working hours, and the volunteers will have the possibility to participate, in addition to outdoor trips and social arrangements by the organisation. We wish to contribute to a healthy lifestyle through sports and outdoor recreation.
The working hours was five days a week, Monday to Friday, 0800-1500. Then two days off. Holidays and other days off according to the calendar.
Lunch is free every day in our cantina, where we serve both hold and cold meals. The volunteer must in general take care of the rest of their meals. She had access to kitchen and cooking options in the apartment. She had her own, separate room in a shared apartment with other volunteers and students. The apartment is in walking distance from Stavne Center.
