PROJECT
FINISHED
In february and april 2014 we made a plan for a permaculture garden. The plan is to work with this project in 10 years and that the project will be run by foreign volunteers and local youths together. We wish that it will be an open garden for visitors from local schools, kindergardens and other interested persons. We focus on cooperation, sharing of information and products, sharing of good values, engagements in enviromental issues, unformal learning and positive working experiences.
We want that all involved in the project, guests and visitors experience new knowledge of an alternative way of living and working. When you have the knowledge of how to grow your own food, you do not need a lot of money. You don't have to leave home and familiy all day to work. This can be useful to youngsters that is struggling to get a job, even with education, initiative and a good will. This is experience they later can bernefit from in private, but can also be used to create something new in their own local enviroments or with other kind of engagements - for instance political or in a organization.
We had 3 volunteers in the project of 2014. We have worked with designing a water-canal system, a henhouse, a rabbitgarden and a giant labyrinth. We have organized two holidayclubs for children, where the volunteers had tasks as assistants and leaders. We have grown potatoes, beans, tomatoes, sugarbeans and pumpkins. We have dryed herbs and tomatoes, and have sold our goods at a local marked for organic food. The volunteers have participated in the local culture-way, have been traveling around the country and had a lot of fun together and with local youngsters.
We had a lot of fun while working together and have cooperated very well. The volunteers have shown a great deal of involvement, have been active in designing the project and have had their own projects during their stay. Creativity and joy have been a great part of our project in 2014. All the volunteers have learnt a lot of norwegian and a lot about norwegian culture. This is important to implement to new volunteers.
