EVS opportunities in promoting Outdoor green jobs for young people

Our initiative is aligned with European Parliament objectives stated in the 2020 Strategy where recomendations are made to national and European Commission to invest in supporting sport and outdoor activities as a measurefighta against obesity and its effects on health and development of children and young people of EU. 8 volunteers from 6 countries(Spain,Turkey, Jordan, Italy, Portugal and Bulgaria)will do a 7 months service in Oradea Romania under the supervision and with support from a team of professional and passionate youth workers. The team is formed by people with years of experience in training in Non formal education, young people with experience in managing YiA projects and passionate about outdoor. EVS volunteers are young people with fewer opportunities(long time unemployment and economic issues), interested in developing new skills and finding a job in the Outdoor domain, or even becoming entrepreneurs. ALC team has conceived a plan to train, offers support, and give young volunteers practical experience in all the stages of concept/preparation/running and evaluating outdoor activities. Experienta practica de implementare a activitatilor outdoor si lucru cu copiii si tinerii We follow 2 directions with this initiative: -EVS volunteers become skilled in preparing and organising outdoor activities, therefore more employable in this field and even capable to start as entrepreneurs -An example of EVS mobility project involving volunteers in Outdoor activities Project Objectives 1. Develop outdoor activities for a period of 6 months in Oradea and surroundings to enable 8 EVS volunteers to acquire skills in preparing and running outdoor activities, to help volunteers in finding a job or start as entrepreneurs inOutdoor industry 2. EVS volunteers actively involved a local campaign addressing youth, teachers, schools, media and local community to promote the benefits of outdoor activities for the health and well being of kids. 3. Disseminate project results at various levels: local, national and international to all actors involved in Erasmus+ and to support the creation at EU/national level of a network of organizations interested in outdoor activities dedicated to young people Results: -8 volunteers have a practical experience and skills to organise outdoor activities -over 2000 kids from Bihor county participating in outdoor activities(hiking, biking, orientation, birdwatching, running, climbing, exploring nature) -for 6 months (4 days/week) kids from Oradea can access for free outdoor activities in Bratianu Park -at least 15 local partners involved -an electronic newsletter is sent monthly to over 50.000 kids, educators, teachers, youthworkers informed about project - ALC team and EVS volunteers post regularly info about outdoor offers on outdoorbihor.ro -students from Bihor county informed about project activities through Posters and web site -a 2 days workshop in Oradea “How to get kids outdoors in 2015?”- for about 25 participants- local NGO's, media, Sport and Youth Authorities, teachers, School managers -a national workshop designed to help us set a network of NGO's dedicated to Outdoors -2 workshops of 3 hours organised by EVS volunteers for young people from highschools in Oradea on EVS Volunteering – Why and How, and its benefits at personal and profesional level, benefits for community -project final report disseminated on EVS, Erasmus+ or youth e-groups , on http://ec.europa.eu/programmes/erasmus-plus/projects/ and http://www.europeansharedtreasure.eu/ Estimated impact -increase number of young people participating in outdoor activities -a system will be created to educated and prepare young people to get a job in Outdoor field -a national network of NGO's dedicated to Outdoor activities will be created -an increased number of EVS volunteers for outdoor/ sport projects at EU and partner countries level
