EVS language training
Start date: Feb 1, 2016, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The EVS language training connects 6 EVS partners that wish to develop the key competences of the participants within the frame of EVS with an extra-added language support in English. The project also aims at building a stable network of partner organisations and their cross-sector cooperation. The training will take place from 19th till 26th June 2016 in Cadca. The partners are AJP from Portugal, Instytut Inowacji from Poland, NHS from Hungary, LINK from Italy and EstYES from Estonia. Each partner will send 3 staff members or youth workers that will be involved in EVS projects running in the organisation in 2016 and 2017. KERIC bears the overall responsibility for management of the training, we will also send 3 participants. Objectives: 1. Practical development of the key competences of participants within the EVS frame 2. Development of the English language skills needed to manage Erasmus+ projects 3. Gaining confidence in communication in English and increasing Erasmus+ specific vocabulary 4. Developing project management skills within Erasmus +5. Developing intercultural sensitivity and tolerance 6. Exchange of experience and sharing of good practice within Erasmus+7. Creating a trustful relationship among the partner organisation as a firm basis for future cooperation The youth workers will acquire new skills through the training programme, as well as through common interaction within the international group and their active participation through all stages of the project. English will be seen as a way of communication among the pax and of acquiring new key competences and EVS experience. It will be made clear to the participants that ONLY improving the level of English is not the overall aim of the training but that it is English within EVS frame. Various self-reflection techniques will be used during the training will be introduced. Each day is dedicated to one or two key competences, which the participants will focus on during the day. Learning to learn competence development and self-directed learning approach will be emphasised during all phases of the project. English will be understood as a way to develop the competences within the EVS frame, not as a unique aim of the training. The methods of approach are those of non-formal learning and experiential learning. The English language support will provided in methods of non-formal learning, too /roleplays, simulations, information-gap exercises, problem solving activities, discussions, creative presentations, etc. /. During the preparation phase, the participants will set their learning goals in terms of key competences acquisition as well as in terms of international experience, EVS cooperation and English language skills. We expect each of the youth workers that will have been trained to influence within the next 5 years to positively influence 200 young people, future volunteers and other colleagues in their organisation. This means, 3600 people directly influenced in total. The expected outcome of the project is a complex empowerement of the youth workers involved, which will also influence the volunteers and young people they work with. This will contribute to developing the quality of support systems for youth activities and the capabilities of civil society organisations in the youth field. As the training is an international one, with a special emphasis on intercultulral competences, cultural diversity and European awareness, the participants will develop a mutual understanding and tolerance. The timing of the EVS language training is before the common projects will take place. The personal meeting between the partners will thus also help them to prepare the projects better, discuss their details personally and thus improve the quality of the projects. We expect long-term cooperation with these partners in the future, with several common international projects organised by KERIC and the partners, as well as the partners among themselves.
