EVS - Experiencing intercultural learning in local communities
Start date: Aug 22, 2016, End date: Aug 21, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

With this project we aim to provide quality intercultural learning oppertunities to a wider audience and other stakeholders than our current. We would like more people to learn about intercultural learning, so we can contribute in creating a more inclusive community of global citizens determined to build bridges between cultures. In order to reach this goal we would like to host two EVS volunteer to develop intercultural learning sessions that they will deliever, or train others to deliver, to a wider audience and other stakeholders. Up to today, our current stakeholders are the participants in the exchange program, and the volunteers involved in the program. With this project we would like to give intercultural learning opertunities to those who are not part of our program. Intercultural learning is the way we see it a necessary tool in order to create global citizencens, who create inclusive local communities. With this project we aim to reach the following stakeholders: - pupils who do not have the opertunity to go on an exchange program- teachers and educators who face cultural differences in their classroom. - organizations working with youth- organizations working with refugees- public institutions who would like more input on the field of culture, cultural understanding and inclusion. The objectives are to create and deliver sessions on intercultural learning, diversity and inclusion to all of these stakeholders in order to give them the necessary knowledge, skills and additudes they need to become more aware of clobal issues and cultural understanding. This understanding is crucial in order to create more equality and increase the opertunities for education and jobs. We would like to do this because we see a need of providing more intercultural learning to those who because of different reasons can not attend a full year program. We believe intercultural learning is important for youth, as well as adults working with youth, in order to make them more aware of global issues and how to deal with it locally. It will encurage them to take a more active participation ion society, and increase self empowerment and self esteem. We also believe that intercultural learning will enhance their sense of self-esteem. This will give teachers an enhanced intercultural awerness, and better understanding of cultural differences in the classroom, and thus contribute to a reduction in the the amount of early school leavers, given that some of the leavers leave because of lack of inclusion. By provinding inbtercultural learning opertunities for the stakeholders mentioned we will also create awereness of European projects and EU values, and increase their motivation for taking part in other projects.
