Mangfoldhuset Trondheim is a non-profit, volunteer organization established in Trondheim. It purposes to contribute in social solidarity. We want to create meeting places in the community to strengthen individuals’ responsibility.
Our target group is people with disabilities, young people, unemployed or early school leavers, migrant families and any participants from Trondheim. Some of them have challenges due to their health status or narrow circle of communication. Our aim is to bring them together to socialize. We use a variety of social work methods and tools, in which vocation training is the most important. Our team of staff and volunteers consist of people with different educational background and former work experience. We have one employee and 18 registered volunteers and our number is increasing very fast.
Our project "Dialog Café" is a social responsibility project for people with disabilities, who cannot make new circles of friends due to their health issues. In order to contribute to society’s need with the help of people living in Trondheim Dialog Café will be place for meetings and discussions.
We want to promote international cooperation and active citizenship among youth and general participants from different countries and different backgrounds.
We want to make people more aware of communities different segments and help in integration of all of them.
We want to provide people with disabilities with the opportunity to gain international expertise for personal and professional development.
We want them to gain self confidence and skills to socialize and integrate to Trondheim society more actively.
We want to learn more about health issues and creativity as method in social work in cooperation with volunteers.
Mangfoldhuset Trondheim is expected to provide both foreign and Norwegian participants the opportunity to experience common values with peers. This aspect will be approached through the daily wok together in one of the ongoing projects. The volunteers will work together with both programme participants and work supervisors. This opens for an intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding.
Through our ongoing projects with youth, volunteers will have possibility to participate in all their outdoor and indoor activities and trips. We wish to contribute to a healthy lifestyle through sports and outdoor recreation.
We want to host one volunteer for 12 month period.
He/she will be helping in arrangement of meetings with officials and experts on particular discussion subject for Dialogue Cafe and managing cafeteria. At the same time we expect volunteer to participate in youth committee's projects and help with participants. We strongly encourage volunteer to participate in any ongoing project of Mangfoldhuset Trondheim.
The working hours will be four week days, Monday to Thursday, 08.00-15.00. Then days off. Holidays and other days off according to the calender.
Lunch is free every day in our cafeteria. The volunteers must in general take care of the rest of their meals. He/she will have access to kitchen and cooking options in their apartment. He/she will have their own seperate room in the shared apartment with other volunteers and students. The apartment is not far from city center and bus ticket card will be provided.
There will be 2 days seminar for volunteers after arrival. First day will be introduction to Trondheim and Norway. This seminar will give volunteers information and knowledge about regulations and laws in Trondheim. Also it will introduce volunteers with history and culture of Trondheim. Volunteers may need it when they will work with citizens of this city. Second day of seminar will consist of information about Mangfoldhuset Trondheim (MHT) and its purposes. Volunteers will be informed about regulations of MHT and more project details.
There also will be 2 weeks practice under constant supervision of our staff. Later volunteers will be more independent and free to make new offers to improve projects. The working language will be english to begin with, but the volunteer is expected to gain some knowledge about the norwegian language and be able to communicate on basic level.
Youthpass will be an instrument in active use during the project period in cooperation between the volunteer, project coordinator and work supervisor. Since EVS-project is meant to be a learning experience, Youthpass is useful in order to describe the learning outcome.
