In the framework of EVS project „EVS connects people” two European volunteers came to Rezekne, Latvia to work in the kindergarten "Namins" and Center for Social and Health Care for 12 months. The main aim of this project was to bring together European youngsters and join them together with the local youngsters and adult people in one desire to connect people and help in building the common European society and work for its common wealth. In this way we wanted to assure raising awareness towards European citizenship among our people and involve them in all European social processes, giving them the opportunity to experience and coexist with other European cultures.
A volunteer from Germany worked in the kindergarten „Namiņš”. Her tasks were to assist teachers during the workshops, support activities related to meal serving, preparing the lessons and education tools together with teachers, talking to and playing with children, providing them with language lessons, organizing different music, dance, sport, and "locomotor" games.
One volunteer, from France carried out his activities in Centre for Social and Health Care, for both old people and young people with different disabilities. His main tasks were to help staff to care about old people and youngsters who need help, attention or treatment, to organize creative activities for their recreation, make sure that they spend their leisure time in creative way, make sport activities and walk with old people and youngsters with disabilities etc.
