EVS at URI MENA
Start date: Jul 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

URI organization is a non-profit organization based in Amman, working in the field of peace building and about intercultural dialogue since 2004. Uri mission is to work for building institutional and individuals’ capacity and empower them to make positive changes in their societies and develop their social and political life based on the values of human respect, partnership and integration among individuals and society. The EVS volunteer Binnaz Binci will be involved in different working areas of the organization. Her main tasks will be to lead activities about basic science, creativity and critical thinking for children and youngsters in public schools, youth centers and most importantly in Palestinian refugee camps. There is a big lack of educational and recreational opportunities in the refugee camps and the volunteers’ presence and engagement there will help the children to learn new things and engage with people from abroad. The volunteer Binnaz Binci will also help to promote EVS and Erasmus+ program to youth in Jordan, establish new cooperation with other organization from Europe and Arab countries and write blog articles about his/her experience in Jordan. This project will hopefully maximize the positive impacts by accomplishing the promotion of the general values and ideas of a volunteering mobility project, such as active citizenship, solidarity and tolerance among young Europeans and Jordanians. The EVS volunteer as well as the Jordanians coming in contact with them (volunteers, staff, neighbors, children in refugee camps…) will have the opportunity to learn about another culture, common values and cultural diversity.
