The eight organizations from western and central as well as eastern Europe that are involved in this seminar are working with disabled young people and cooperating since many years; they have organized many youth exchanges and trainings in the past, some of them have been active in volunteering, a few times this has led to the exchange of volunteers among two of the organizations within this network. The seminar is aimed to the exchange of good practice in volunteering for and with people with special needs, to encourage those who haven not yet experience in this field, to identify obstacles for disabled young people to join EVS and discuss the best ways for supporting participants with special needs, whether this is through the attitude of the staff that is dealing with the volunteers (mentors, tutors, coordinators) or through they way the access to and the preparation for volunteering is organised. In this seminar we will be working through methods like exchange of experience in small groups, discussion, keynote speech, simulation game, sensitizing exercise, planning workshop. All the 26 participants will have at least 1-2 years of experience working with disabled youth and being actively involved in their organizations, which will guarantee that the results will be brought to their colleagues and have an impact on the development and policy of their organizations. As a result organizations involved in this seminar will be more motivated to host EVS volunteers with special needs. With this they could give a good example for their potential candidates and we expect them to recruit volunteers with special needs and prepare them for an EVS. The promotion and good examples of hosting or sending volunteers with special needs could be inspiring for other organisations and we hope that the organisations involved in this seminar will continue cooperating and spreading the experiences in other networks relevant to this topic.
