EUROVAL - Development of a New Methodology for the Validation of Competences Acquired in Informal and Non-Formal Contexts

The EUROVAL project aims at developing common methodology for the validation of skills and competencies acquired within informal and non-formal contexts, promoting the process of certification and enhancing the mutual recognition of titles. This developed model is to be further considered for integration into the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Building upon an initial analysis of existing systems of certification, the project will focus upon the development of methodology for use in a variety of sectors for the recognition of informally and non-formally acquired skills and competences. The end products for the EUROVAL project will comprise methodology relating to the validation of skills and competences acquired outside of formal contexts, an operational handbook (providing information on certification processes in each of the participating countries) and a glossary of terms. Dissemination expects to involve end-users from the start of the project (with a particular focus upon validation of the project results) and will involve the hosting of a series of workshops and seminars to present the end project results. Project beneficiaries include training & certification bodies and authorities and individual companies.
