EUROPISSIME
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Lycée polyvalent Joubert Maillard is a state secondary school which brings 1250 students to passing a “baccalauréat”, be it general, technological or vocational. The school is located in Ancenis, one of the subprefectures of the Loire-Atlantique region, counting about 7500 inhabitants, and situated between two large cities, Nantes and Angers. Our recruitment area comprises 80 towns and villages, mostly rural. 170 members of staff, including 130 teachers, work in this high school, as well as some 40 regional admin staff. Both the students and the staff are strongly attached to their area, and the school’s major aim is to create the structures and opportunities which will enable them to have access to a fruitful professional mobility. The geographical situation may represent an impediment to continuing an education or looking for a job. It may also fuel defiance towards remote European partners. Our high school may rest on a solid background of international experience and expertise built over the years through: - Exchanges with Germany within the Brigitte Sauzay framework and relying on the twinning between Ancenis and Brüchenau; - Work placements in Europe (Leonardo, Erasmus Plus Learner); - Partnerships with Europeans schools (Comenius). We are currently rewriting the school’s plan and we hope to give it a greater international scope. Our EUROPISSIME project will thus contribute to: - Increasing our community’s exposure to European languages and cultures; - Developing the educational offer in European sections for all students, be they in general, technological or vocational courses of education.- Contributing in more diversified and wide-spread network of European schools. Our ambition requires highly-skilled, trained and qualified staff, professionals who are in a position to use their linguistic skills confidently, and who are open to apply pedagogic innovation in their daily acts of teaching. Our application involves eight teachers and one deputy headmaster, who will participate to: - Observation sessions within our partner-schools in Finland, Spain and Romania. - Structured courses in the UK and in Finland to meet the linguistic needs of the non-language subject teachers who operate in the European sections. What we hope to achieve in the long run is increasing the amount of collaborations between European students, teachers, and schools.
