Search for European Projects

Europese uitwisseling leidt ongetwijfeld tot meer professionaliteit in onze school.
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

In the schoolyear 2007-2008 I had the chance to start up and develop a new function at school: the group of the non-native speakers. We worked for the school community Arkorum in Roeselare. What we created has in the meantime developed to a recognised partner in Roeselare since we realised to build a solid network between different schools and many other organisations active in this field. Via the workshops, I will acquire more insights in other approaches and solutions of the same and other problems. I'm looking forward to see how European colleagues in the field approach diversity and I want to learn about the issues they are confronted with. This application is on behalf of my school, Burgerschool Arkorum 05. I work closely together with the highschool Burgerschool in Roeselare for which teacher Katrien Vandamme and vice-director Patrick Vandaele also filed an application. The following has already been realised: - the design of a 'BSA' of our school, - the creation of a diversity workgroup within the school and the school community, - we listed our targets and priorities, - implementation of the agreed action points relating to the student support, - further personal development via different trainings and courses, For the coming period, the following activities are planned: - a 'diversity day' for the students, - further concretisation and implementation of the agreed action points, - implementation of the school community's diversity strategy and vision in the different schools. My intention is to share the acquired knowledge and new insights of this seminar with the school community's management and colleagues via personal investment in an attractive powerpoint presentation. I intend to present my presentation during our own team meetings and during the general staff meetings. We also plan to offer it as a workshop in the continuing education programme offered by the school community as well as during the obligatory pedagogical seminars. We will also offer this workshop to our external partners such as: - the CLB (the centre for student guidance), - the SOM (the integration centre), - the city of Roeselare, - Elim (an organisation for refugees) And last but not least, the many informal contacts we have with other education partners. The Portugal seminar and the experience of another environment and culture will undoubtedly help us in transferring our enthusiasm and positive spirit to our colleagues and professional contacts. All the information, knowledge and expertise needs to lead to a widely accepted vision, carried out by all partners. A diversity vision on school community level which is supported by all schools by implementing the same vision in the different schools, supported by all teachers of the school. Starting from the vision and strategy, a policy can be implemented that supports the equal chances policy for all students, separately of their social background, race, gender or language. This seminar about diversity will be succesful for me if all European partners are willing to share their enthusiasm, expertise and drive with all the participants. It will add a lot of value to my job, my colleguaes and students.
