PROJECT
FINISHED
EYES – European Youth Environmental Sentinels’ main aim was to promote sustainable environment and health protection, on the basis of Art. 191 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. The project involved youth workers and young leaders interested or having a personal experience in environment and health issues, who acted as “multipliers” at the local and international levels. The project is divided in five steps:
1) Identification and preparation of 20 couple (one male and one female) of Youth Environmental Sentinels from each partner organisation. Tailored made supportive activities involving youth workers and young leaders have been organized to prepare the international seminar.
2) 8-day International Seminar in Vicenza (Italy). The Sentinels were able to present their engagement at local level, discuss and share their experiences, and get useful inputs from experts in the fields of health and environment about possible solutions to the challenges existing in their territories. In addition, this activity helped them develop an acute civic sense and sensibility on environment and health-related issue. The aim was to have young people closer to decision-making processes on the aforementioned topics.
3) Capitalization and local initiatives. After the seminar, the Sentinels worked at local level to organise original and creative activities. Those activities involved not only young people, but also ordinary citizens and civil society organisations. This step of the project aimed at promoting multiplying initiatives focused on environment and health.
4) Evaluation. A final evaluation has been organised at the end of the project. The latter’s overall impact was assessed through questionnaires and debates.
5) Outputs. The project produced a final handbook. The publication served as a dissemination / multiplying tool, and contributed to the implementation of the actions realised by the Sentinels.
