European Week of Sport -Malta
Start date: Mar 1, 2016, End date: Dec 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The aim of the European Week of Sport is to promote exercise and sport at all levels. Indeed, all the events included in our action plan are a clear attempt to address the needs and objectives of this event. The action plan contains a mixture of events and dissemination activities intended to engage the general public particularly those that are not active and to encourage key stakeholders such as sport organisations to continue their efforts in reaching out to people and encouraging them to become active. The European Week of Sport national event in Malta will be made up of several events encompassing a wide spectrum of sports disciplines and physical activities. The main objectives of our action plan are to engage as many people as possible in sport and physical activity, promote physical activity as a pillar of a healthy lifestyle, as well as raise awareness on the possibilities available for citizens to engage in physical activity. The plan being submitted follows weeks of preparation and consultation to ensure that all the activities are well attended and that there is a real need to raise awareness on the importance of sport and physical activities and encourage healthier lifestyles. The dates for our week will be the same as set by the European Commission: 10th to 17th September 2016. The main event shall be a Beach and Fitness Festival together with other supporting events and communications activities to promote the EWoS in Malta and Gozo. It is expected that over 10,000 people will be participating actively in the National event with more participants being involved in side events. We are also aiming to reach a bigger number than that through our communications plan. Also, it is estimated that more than 30 sport and other entities will participating/contributing to the local EWoS through various means.
