UC Diakonissestiftelsen has experience in hosting volunteers in the educational section, partly dealing with IT and communication and partly in developing and supporting the social life and interaction between the students. The volunteers will benefit from volunteering in an educational surrounding for 9 months. The vivid and vibrant atmosphere of such an environment and the complexitiy of dealing with people in social projects will be a great learning experience. The UC Diakonissestiftelsen as a member of Ecumenical Diaconal Year Network - a network of lay and Ecumenical Christian organisations who offer young people a possibility of volunteering in social work throughout Europe - wants to invite European volunteers to join the volunteer service in order to provide us with young and fresh inputs in our projects and to strengthen our efforts of making the idea of volunteering known for the benefit of social projects throughout Europe. The volunteers will gain from being part of a team in the projects, the methodology is “learning by practice” how it is to be part of a team, conducting a project, addressing people with different background, how to make use of own skills and potential. The volunteers will during the time of service live in Denmark, gain from its culture and history, the many contacts with local people and people from other parts of the world and from the acquisition of the Danish language, but also improvement of the English language. The volunteers will also share their own culture and learn from all the other volunteers cultural backgrounds.
