ESN Nancy offers the opportunity for 1 young volunteer from an EVS programme country to be EVS volunteer for 10 months. Based in Nancy, France, ESN Nancy is the main student association in charge of welcoming international students. ESN Nancy helps international students on arrival and organises a wide range of social and cultural activities. These activities seek to foster the link between international student and the local community but also to engage international student in active citizenship beyond their study period. ESN Nancy is strongly supported by the University of Lorraine and the City of Nancy and is actively involved in the ESN network, a 448 association’s network operating in 36 countries. The project is an expression of ESN’s commitments toward better intercultural understanding and better active citizenship opportunities for young Europeans. The project will allow the volunteer to have a strong impact on the local community by implementing a wide range of activities and by giving the volunteer the opportunities to develop its own projects. Planned activities include welcoming of international students, promotion of mobility events, organisation of cultural and social events (Gala Erasmus, cooking club, trips), SocialErasmus activities (engagement of international students within the local community) and Erasmus In Schools activities (intervention of international students in schools) It will provide the volunteers with a unique learning experience. Through their involvement in a wide range of activities they will improve key competences and gain a wide range of skills such as teamwork and project management skills. ESN Nancy and sending organisations will gain increased inspiration and capacity as regards international and intercultural competence, and better networking opportunities for the future as a result. The volunteer will be fully included in the ESN Nancy volunteer team made of 50 local students and will have the chance to live an unforgettable experience.
