European Umbrella II: Your Eu Rights

We want to raise awareness among young people and organizations on European citizenship and the rights it entails. Within a framework of not only economic crisis but of lack of confidence in the EU it is necessary to discuss the advantages of EU membership and develop a sense of belonging. In addition, there is great ignorance towards the EU, European citizenship, European rights and European values, not only in our experience and our partners, but it is confirmed by the latest Eurobarometer last February 2013. TOPIC: awareness of European citizens and their rights. OBJECTIVES: - Clarify the concept of European citizenship, divided into 4 dimensions: cultural, social, economic and legal. - Know the rights as European citizens - Encourage active participation of young people in society learning to use and defend the rights acquired democratically. - Know European institutions at the service of citizens that provide information and advice on their rights. - Reflect on European identity, values and cultures that shape and foster rapprochement between our cultures. - Promote intercultural dialogue among young people to express their ideas democratically The youth exchange took place in Jerez de la Frontera and Chiclana de la Frontera, Cadiz province, Spain, from 14th to 24th, September 2015, with a total duration of 4 months. It involved 39 participants between 18 and 30 years, half of them with economic, geographical and cultural barriers, from 6 countries: Italy, Estonia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Turkey and Spain. We used a non-formal and informal methods to maximize participation and cooperation among young people, with games of names, trust and teamwork, group dynamics, small group discussions, role plays, theater of the oppressed, create elections campaign. Young people created their own videos with situations where rights are violated and claim their rights. We created a space for daily reflection and learning process, including an activity to fill-in the Youthpass. As well visibility and dissemination activities to encourage participation of other young people in the program Erasmus + and report on our project and the results they can benefit other young people. We want to raise awareness of the benefits of EU membership and citizenship to get more informed, more responsible, and feel they can construct future of Europe, while developing their competencies and skills throughout the project. Organizations also got a more clearly defined concepts of European citizenship, rights, European values and European institutions, as well we assessed the implementation of the activities to develop together, and we will strengthen cooperation among the partners, creating best future projects based on experience and confidence. Other organizations and young people in general may also benefit from the project results, through dissemination activities.
