The key aim of the Action is to Europeanize the curriculum at the Department of Sociology, Institute of Sociological Studies (ISS), Charles University (CU), Prague, by means of the creation and expansion of a course cluster in the Sociology of European Integration. This new and promising sub-field in sociology, in which the Chair is a prominent scholar, is not at all developed in the Czech or Central-European context. The Europos cluster will form an integral part of the MA-programme “Sociology in European Context”, offering innovative, introductory as well as specialized courses that will attract local and international students from different disciplines.Actions grounded in a multi-faceted methodology will significantly enhance the profile and status of European Studies:1. Course cluster. A cohesive set of six courses - two novel and four profoundly “Europeanized” courses - taught by the Chair. 2. Staff and student engagement.a. European modules. Applied for by colleagues with European expertise;b. European Cinema. New module ‘Sociology of European Cinema’.c. Teaching Europe. Didactical series on ‘Teaching Europe’;d. MA programme and Double Degree. Europos will enrich the MA programme and become an integral part of a novel double degree programme; e. Debating Europe. Thematic series on ‘Debating Europe’;f. Cluster meetings. Frequent staff meetings on teaching and research;g. Research. Funding applications to strengthen research capacity;h. Social media/digital platform. Multi-faceted digital approach;3. Conference organization. Two international events.4. Publications. An interdisciplinary, edited book on European Sociology, and a special issue on Central Europe in the EU;5. Dissemination.
