European Photo Youth 2014 is an international exchange of young photographers that will be taking place in Maribor between August 24th and 31st, 2014. The exchange is organized by the Association for Film Culture Development from Slovenia, Stowarzyszenie na rzecz Dzieci i Mlodziezy "Uskrzydlamy" from Poland, and Magyar Fotomuveszek Szovetsege from Hungary. The exchange will bring together 6 mentors (or youth leaders) that will guide 30 young photographers (mainly aged between 20 and 27 years), both students and unemployed, from Slovenia, Poland, and Hungary.
The photographers will expand their knowledge through practical group work with mentors – thematically focused on youth themes – and through workshops of alternative photographic processes. The selection of participants’ photographs will make up a travelling exhibition that will be put to display in Slovenia, Poland, and Hungary. Before noon, the participants will be attending project management workshops to learn planning and organizing international art projects through Creative Europe mechanisms. They will get acquainted with financing possibilities for European cultural projects, and will also form specific ideas with execution plans – the goal is for at least three formed projects to be realized in the future.
The project strives to support the exchange of knowledge and experience to increase the creative youth’s competences, and thus enable them easier inclusion into creative industries. At the same time, we wish to show this youth some possibilities how to evade unemployment by connecting through international projects, so that they will dare to think they can actually support themselves by the activity they love.
