PROJECT
FINISHED
During the project timeframe the "Berufsbildungswerk Neckargemünd" (BBWN) sends a total of 26 trainees and apprentices abroad for internships or practical stays who all have very specific special education needs and come from various apprenticeships and training programs within the Dual Training System. At the BBW, young people are trained outside of a company, i.e. the practical part takes place in well-equipped training companies res. on shop floors. In these internship programs, trainees gain valuable experiences at cooperation companies.
One of the most important objectives is the strengthening and acquisition of self-reliance and more self-confidence. After finishing their training program or apprenticeships our trainees have to face the first job market and compete with people without handicaps. Showing mobility and intercultural competence and having gained experience abroad increases our trainees’ chances dramatically and helps compensating for disadvantages resulting from their handicaps. At the moment we are offering internships in Spain, England, Estonia, France, Finland, Poland, and Italy. The Coordinator for Internships Abroad at our vocational school plans, books and organizes the entire internship programs. Typically, the trainees are accompanied during the first days of their internship by a teacher/trainer. erasmus+ Mobility and the BBWN fund the program and bear all expenses, such as travel expenses, board and lodging and insurance.
Apart from the trainees in their initial training, 10 trainers and teachers of the BBWN visit our partners in connection with VETPRO Projects. These are facilities that offer vocational training for young people with special education needs. Our goal is to learn from our partners, gain insights and deepen our collaboration, e.g. within Peer Review Projects or ECVET. We are striving for a regular exchange of colleagues within VETPRO projects in order to also promote the internationalization of our facility.
