European Mentoring Network for Disadvantaged Adults

Mentoring is a form of effective informal training to improve the employability of people without direct access to traditional training. Mentoring is an instructional strategy, a form of teaching where tutor is teaching alongside the students, encouraging them to learn from mentor's own working examples. Mentoring involves approaches such as encouragement/advice/befriending, ongoing contact and sharing between mentor and mentees, problem-based training, counselling, discussions. For VET outside of formal school system, opportunity has now presented itself to describe the VET in a EU common learning of ICT technologies for physically disabled adults."E-Mentoring" project opens up an opportunity for adult education providers and other relevant actors to influence VET and present their needs using this learning of ICT technologies. The focus of this project will be mentoring with ICT. Our approach for improvement in quality of VET for mentoring with ICT in this project is the increased co-operation between VET providers and all their stakeholders. The employers, branch and client representatives, personal assistants themselves, and the VET-providers will together define an education and training profile for this profession in Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy, United Kingdom and Turkey. We shall present it in transferable units of learning with allocation of level and credits. We will thereby take the first steps towards a structured qualification of the profession. On the basis of this education and training profile, the VET providers will adapt their VET to be more in line with stakeholder demands.
