The present project "EUROPEAN CITIZENS INITIATIVE IN YOUTH ACTIVITIES" is in full accordance with the standing priorities of the Youth in Action Programme. A training is foreseen for 20 young people on the European Citizens Initiative (ECI), a new tol for civic participation at European level, implemented with the Lisbon Treaty in 2009 and legally introduced with a Regulation of the European Parliant in December, 2010. The project iis implemented by Balkan Assist Association - an organization with strong experience and expertise in direct democracy and citizens participation field, in partnership with Romanian, Czeck, German and Turkish organizations. The training foreseen as main activity, is planned to be one week, in Sofia, Bulgaria, and it aims at introducing participants to possibilities and procedures for ECI implementation, different approaches in conducting campaigns and initiatives for cooperation at European level. The Programme foresees interactive training methods (working in groups, case studies, role plays), and meetings with representatives of Bulgarian and European NGOs, national and Euroepan institutions and MEPs. The Training Programme is smartly combined with Arts Nights and intercultural communication and instruments for feedback from participants and further motivating them on direct democracy and civic participation enhancement.
