Start date: Aug 20, 2015,
End date: Feb 19, 2016
PROJECT
FINISHED
Europe’s Youth Beyond Discrimination’s project (EYBD) will be a Training Course (TC) that will gather a total of 32 young people and youth workers from 10 European and neighbouring countries. It will provide a safe space to explore intercultural understanding within Europe and along its borders and the emergence of stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination.
Our mission is to promote a culture of peace by empowering young people to promote human rights, dignity, equality and respect of diversity through education and advocacy in projects at the local and international level. The participants will work together by elaborating on individual and common ideas in order to apply gained knowledge and skills to cooperate in their future work.
During the training course we will use different methodologies , e.g. Jane Elliot methodology, UNHCR Video material, guest speaker, different non-formal methods and discussions that stimulate individual reflection and group work. This is aimed at raising awareness regarding the issues marginalised groups are confronted with in our societies. The participants will discuss cultural differences, real-life and political situations in their country, share their view and make suggestions how to prevent the rise of discrimination in our society.
This will give them a unique experience to learn new anti-discrimination methods in a country with the highest number of Syrian refugees. It will also give them an opportunity to gain insight into the activities of a local NGO working with marginalized groups in Turkey.
Furthermore, this Training Course will serve the participants to promote participation in democratic life in Europe, active citizenship, social inclusion and solidarity. At the end we hope this TC will enable the participants to develop common future actions against practices of cultural discrimination.
