In times of globalization and migration, the question of cultural identiy become an issue. In the European dance scene a globe-spanning transnational way of working is already a reality. The national identity of dance pieces is more and more replaced by multilayered mosaic identities inspired by different cultures and social networks. How do these structures shape and influence the artistic process? In EUROPE IN MOTION - MOSAIC IDENTITIES four international acclaimed organizations in the contemporary dance field organize five exchange programmes for fifty young choreographers to reflect on this question in relation to their work. Every country hosts one exchange programme in which 10 dance artists from Europe participate (eight from the participating countries plus two other interesting choreographers from Europe) Challenged by two mentors, they will enter intense working sessions in which they reflect on the topic in relation to their work. Next to the working sessions each participant presents a short performance or working process in the frame of a festival.
