PROJECT
FINISHED
EUFORIA (EUrope FOlk Reunion In Action) was designed to join the cultures through their most authentic expression: the folklore. Some European regions are rich of traditions that, in the global era and with migratory phenomenon, risk to be forgotten. The knowledge and the esteem of own culture allow, on one side, to alleviate the feelling of loss that often young people may have facing multicultural contexts, on the other side can make the comparison and the knowledge easier from who, like us, is part of Euopean context. The traditions show without filters the soul of populations.
The project will be run in a south rural area of Italy (Bojano), this place is rich of folkloristic traditions that deserves to be ricovered and kept.
Twenty-five young people from Italy, Bulgaria, Polonia, Greece and Turkey will be involved. The participants will use several kind of folklore to know each other, to compare, to face European topics, to improve languages and artistic (sing, dance, play, etc...) skills. Many of these participants come from off centre areas.
The main topics of initiative are: valorization of traditions (especially those risking to disappeare), social discrimination, art and culture. The activities will take place in Bojano and other historical places of Campobasso province. The folklore will be considered in its main perspectives: popular games; legends and proverbs; cabal; tales, musics, songs and dances.
In such moments the project will include some of the major local organizations involved in the folklore (music bands and acting companies ).
The project is grounded on Informal activities, where participants will learn having fun. The initiative is aspected to get a strong local resonance (also thanks to the involvement of institutions and organizations), where local and international synergies are able to spread results and create many other youth initiatives.
