Europe back to work ! Prioritising the fight against youth unemployment

The rate of Youth Unemployment in Europe is about twice as high as the rate for the general population with some studies suggesting that youth unemployment costs the EU as much as €100 billion every year. Europe's future prosperity depends on its young people. They represent a fifth of the EU population and their skills and abilities will be decisive in achieving the Europe 2020 goal of smart, sustainable and inclusive growth.The Europe back to work project provides young people living in regions of Europe which have some of the highest levels of youth unemployment with more effective training on entrepreneurship so that are able to consider starting their own business or working with a social entreprise as an alternative to unemployment.Youth Business is working to that topic the last 2 years and this project is a partnership between business intermediary organisations (such as Chambers of Commerce), educational establishments & young people’s organisations from five EU states with the contribution of Turkey as the six participant .The project will take place in Korinthos , a region with extreme percentages of youth unemployment from 19th November until 26th November 2016.Participating countries Greece , Romania , Latvia, Estonia, Italy and Turkey . By taking issues related both to the demand and supply sides into consideration, the project aims to obtain a comprehensive picture of the causes and consequences of unemployment among young people as well as to formulate policy strategies and recommendations for addressing this ever-growing issue. The project brings together a broad network of researchers and practitioners from the fields of economics, political science, psychology, and sociology.In cooperation with experts we will help the participants with the following :One-to-one guidance and advice to formulate a tailored personal action planJob search support including careers advice, completing application forms and preparing your CVJob specific trainingSupport throughout your participation in the programme to help you secure a positive future and become more confident in your own abilitiesAn assigned Specialist Employment Adviser to help you find a new jobBusiness start-up training and support, should you wish to enter self-employment.Also in our plans is to create an ebook translated in 5languages with tips about job research and a website that connecting businessmen with youngsters who are seeking a vocational job.
